Erie Grill Boasts Inventive Cocktails - July 9, 2013

The Erie Grill at the Del Monte Lodge Renaissance Rochester Hotel and Spa in Pittsford recently underwent a major facelift, losing its staid décor for an updated palette of cool hues and metallic accents.

The Erie Grill at the Del Monte Lodge Renaissance Rochester Hotel and Spa in Pittsford recently underwent a major facelift, losing its staid décor for an updated palette of cool hues and metallic accents.  The restaurant also added a sleek bubble-glass bar and revamped its cocktail menu, making room for new takes on martinis, fizzes and other classics.

During my visit last weekend, I chose the vodka gimlet with elderflower liqueur and rosewater ($9).  Lime juice delivered a punch of tartness, while the round ice cube looked chic with an edible Johnny-Jump Up flower frozen in the center.

My companion chose the E V Double O, comprised of vodka, gin, Lillet Blanc and olive oil ($11).  Essentially a riff on James Bond’s signature Vesper martini, the cocktail had a silky finish from the olive oil.
